Testimonial by Collective Member Hunting Dog

“So far I’ve released two albums on Grimalkin Records one LP “Body” in 2019 and It’s companion B-side compilation “Pseudobody” in 2021. Since the first release I’ve played dozens of shows with many of the amazingly talented artists with releases on the label, many of whom are or were fellow members of the collective as well.

It’s been a refreshing run with Grimalkin, and I’m personally very impressed with the sense of dedication to the ideal of boosting the work of Queer and Marginalized artists who may otherwise have not have had the social or financial means to get out there. I have never seen another local entity branch and connect a (now global) selection of talented individual artists and bands, mutual aid fundraising, and grassroots organizations like Grimalkin Records has in it’s short time here with us.

A lot of the hard work and logistics of this kind of thing get glazed over but there has been an extreme labor of love here from many people to bring this music to light and to get releases funded and released on physical media, not another fairweather side project but a real community service.

I know that it was difficult for me to get my foot in the door with the ins and outs of releasing and recording music and I am grateful to have had the experience of working with Grimalkin Records to make it an easier one, where I had support from other Queer people and hope that many more people submit their works and join the collective to experience that sense of community as well.” - Thee Hunting Dog
