Grimalkin Funder: E. Rhoades and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation

THE LOOKING OUT FOUNDATION (2023)

The Looking Out Foundation (LOF) amplifies the impact of music by empowering those without a voice. From neighborhood to nation, we help fund causes and organizations that often go unnoticed. Founded in 2008 by multiple Grammy winning artists Brandi Carlile, Tim and Phil Hanseroth, we band together with fans, non-profits and female LGBTQ+ owned businesses to translate voices of song to voices of action. We are nimble to the ever-changing needs of the human race, and adapt to support the diverse demographic we serve. Every campaign we launch is backed by our passionate donors and fans, and $2 from every concert ticket sold goes directly toward our efforts.

THE ABBey FUND (2022-2024)

We are so grateful for the Abbey Fund for seeking us out and supporting us!

the Trans Justice Funding Project, a fund of Tides Foundation (2021-2024)

The Trans Justice Funding Project is a community-led funding initiative founded in 2012 to support grassroots, trans justice groups run by and for trans people in the United States, including U.S. territories. We make grants annually by bringing together a panel of six trans justice activists from around the country to carefully review every application we receive. We center the leadership of trans people organizing around their experiences with racism, economic injustice, transmisogyny, ableism, immigration, incarceration, and other intersecting oppressions. Every penny we raise goes to our grantees with no restrictions and no strings attached because we truly believe in trans leadership.

Wilhelm Family Foundation (2023-2024)

The Wilhelm Family Foundation supports non-profit arts organizations with the goal of helping improve the quality of life of artists and creative communities nationwide.

E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation (2024)

E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation was formed in 1975 as E. Rhodes Carpenter Foundation by E. Rhodes Carpenter, founder of the Richmond, Virginia based company now known as Carpenter Co.

During Mr. Carpenter’s lifetime, the Foundation made a few substantial gifts but for the most part had minimal assets. In accordance with Mr. Carpenter’s wishes, the Foundation received significant funding following his death in 1980. His wife, Leona B. Carpenter, died a year later leaving substantial assets to the Foundation. In 1982, the name of the Foundation was changed to E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation. The Foundation operates independently of, and has no connection, to Carpenter Co.

The Foundation will consider grant requests for support of the performing arts in Richmond, Virginia. The Foundation will consider requests from public charities located in or outside Richmond, provided that the performing arts activity for which funding is requested occurs within the Richmond City limits.
