Testimonial by Writer & Supporter Louis Paulhus

“My first contact with Grimalkin came through Mes enceintes font défaut, the website I was co-running at the time. From the first moments, I fell under the spell of this invigorating collective. Each of the email exchanges we had were personal, warm and motivating, which unfortunately is not the norm, so when that happens you feel a real connection being created and that is what happened. Since that day, I listen to each and everyone of the Grimalkin releases and encourage them as best I can.

The involvement of Grimalkin and its members within their community is exemplary and touched me a lot, because it is directly in line with my values and is so inspiring. The business side of the music industry disappears and is replaced by mutual aid, care and the importance of supporting each other. This approach is refreshing and essential if we want to build healthier, safer and more open creative spaces.

Grimalkin's openness is not only found in its core, but also musically where all styles are welcome and appreciated. An approach that facilitates discoveries and amplifies the admirable diversity found within the collective and the label.

Discovering Grimalkin will have been a turning point in my experience in the music world, bringing me so much inspiration and ideas to make the scenes in which I am involved better. After MEFD stopped, when I was given the opportunity to continue working with the collective (which I’ll be forever grateful of), I immediately said yes and I’m proud to work with so many great people and artists and I hope to do so for a long time.”

Louis Paulhus (he/him) began his journey in the music industry with his involvement in Mes enceintes font défaut (2016-2021), an independent music website focusing on ambient, experimental and electronic scenes. Getting to know so many talented artists and great human beings throughout the years, this experience led him to organize parties and is currently doing so with Hiatus, a Montreal based collective, which has been presenting concerts since December 2021.
