Testimonial from Artist & Collaborator The Doll

“In 2018 I became aware of Grimalkin Records - the collective, the music, the outstanding work that was being achieved to support artists, communities, & charities etc etc - I wanted to be a part of this family, and to put as much effort and time as I was able into helping in any small way that I could.

Grimalkin Records champions marginalized and often overlooked people in the music world, focusing on QTBIPOC artists. The resulting label catalogue is varied, vibrant, it's quite simply a whole lot of fun, and if there was a festival of all these performers it would be one you would not want to miss.

Grimalkin Records is an inspiration to me, it is precisely what I want to see and hear more of in the music industry - a place of community, collaboration, and celebration.” -The Doll

The Doll (she/her/doll) is an Aotearoa based artist who has been making no-fi sounds since 2004. She likes to augment her vocals with contact mics, balloons, magnetic tape, percussion junk, garbage from the side of the road, horns, household appliances, a T-Pain mic, and field recordings.

Live was released on Grimalkin Records in 2019, she also contributed a track to the Grimalkin & Friends compilation.

The Doll loves improvisational collaboration, especially the projects tujuh kuda with Dea Karina (Indonesia) and with Toxic Octopus with Toxic Chicken (Netherland). She also enjoys online collaborations, which you can find on dadashopping.net.
