Testimonial from Artist Carolina Simionato

“When Rafael (my a/c repair school bandmate) and I started making music together and put an album together, we were sure we wanted to do something with it, but not what that would be. I am not sure how they found out about Grimalkin — what I am sure of is that I am very, very glad they did. Grimalkin is a beautiful community with awesome people who care about each other, and who you are, and your music, and what your music means to you. When I think of Grimalkin, I think of it as being about elevating each other’s voices, caring about people and music that maybe wouldn’t get attention otherwise, and by doing that, changing the music industry landscape for the better every day — through a lot of hard work and belief in what is being done. I feel very lucky to be one of the people involved, even if from afar.”

Carolina Simionato (she/her) is a Brazilian artist based in Hamburg, Germany. Her solo project is Soft Verges and she is one half of A/C Repair School with Rafael de Toledo Pedroso (they/them, he/him). A/C Repair school released their debut album, Órfãs, with us in January 2021. Órfãs is a bittersweet reflection on abandonment, with beautifully melancholic lyrics and a dirty instrumentation. The duo blends themes of feeling out of place with aggressive and experimental melodies and textures making the album an authentic and unique experience as punk as it is dreamy.
