Testimonial from Grimalkin Collaborator James Cassar

"I first was acquainted with Grimalkin when Quiet Year (fellow Richmond-area label prioritizing QTPOC in music) and my company rumblepak teamed up for a series of weekly online interviews/performances during 2020 called Grim Year Wednesdays. I've been fortunate enough to help the collective with some administrative needs, including contracts and advising on structure. Simply put, what Grimalkin is doing for musicians and creatives is unique and needed. Why? Grimalkin prioritizes being a community over anything else, and community is at the heart of creativity.

Gr is setting an example of what genuine relationships and support can provide artists. It's so much more than handling physical media and distribution. By centering queer and marginalized voices, encouraging the endeavors of all involved through a tight-knit community focus, and placing both of those pillars over any of the other industry headaches, Grimalkin is setting the tone for a kinder, more equitable music future."

James Cassar (they/them) is a non-binary writer, artist helper, and freelance web designer from Philadelphia. They are a co-founder of zero-profit record label/art distro Moon Physics, administrative wizard for Richmond record label/force for good Quiet Year, and the founder of rumblepak, a freelance project management company for all sizes of artists.
