Testimonial by i fight vampires

Happy Birthday to i fight vampires!

Check out what Andrew Brassington (they/them) aka i fight vampires has to say about Grimalkin:

Grimalkin Supporter i fight vampires

Grimalkin: If your musical/artistic journey was a movie tagline, what would it be?

Andrew: This summer…emo just got a little worse.

Grimalkin: Briefly share your journey as an artist and how you came to know about Grimalkin:

Andrew: I had the pleasure of meeting and playing a show with Grim in Winter 2019 that was organized by Infinite Bliss. From there I deep dived into the rich discographies of GR’s roster and became acquainted with their mission and the work that they do.

Grimalkin: Has Grimalkin positively impacted your life and/or career? In what ways?

Andrew: Absolutely. I came out semi-publicly as non-binary to folks in 2020 and seeing what Grimalkin artists have done to express themselves has helped become more comfortable with who i am and how to go about expressing myself. GR has given me confidence as a queer artist to be more introspective about that portion of my identity. Additionally, GR has led me to working with some great artists and provides opportunities to meet new friends and musical peers.

Grimalkin: Grimalkin is making changes within and creating alternative systems to the music industry. Why do you feel it is important to work outside of the current systems?

Andrew: I feel it’s important to work outside of the confines of a typical music system as a lot of folks do not get the opportunity to release their music and art to the world as the the music industry is limiting and much like the rest of capitalism, prevents people in marginalized groups from achieving their goals or even largely being seen/heard. It’s important for folks to have a truly equal opportunity to perform, to create, and to share their work with the world and to do so without the worry of corporate greed and prejudice.
