Trio by Spartan Jet-Plex Out Today

August 28, 2023: Trio by Spartan Jet-Plex are songs that were written after their mom's passing and are about grief, the processing of that and also the grief and processing of a couple of bad relationships.

I also think they're about grieving the realization that I don't properly know how to love and care for myself. I'm in a much better place than when I wrote these songs, but at the same time, they are so honest and universal and I keep coming back to wanting to sing and play several of them.
They were originally released as three separate albums: Cross the Line, My Time and Touch Tone. I feel these are albums with solid songwriting, but I edited out the songs on each album that I felt were making each album's set of songs weaker as a whole and wanted to re-release them all together as a tribute to my mom on what would have been her her 81st birthday. She passed away at the age of 68 from lymphoma.”

Grimalkin Artist Spartan Jet-Plex

75% of digital proceeds on Bandcamp go to Spartan Jet-Plex and the other 25% supports Grimalkin's future releases.

Nancy Grim (they/them) makes music as Spartan Jet-Plex and is the founding member of Grimalkin and has a variety of music collaborations. They facilitate Grimalkin Records by handling most of the day-in, day-out tasks such as email, promotion, press, social media, booking, organizing shows, reviewing submissions, mailing and organizing of orders, and general coordinating of everything that keeps us up and running. In addition to that, they purchase everything needed for the label, hand dub the tapes, handmake stickers and pins and payout proceeds to the various organizations and the artists we support. They organize and maintain the daily work for Grim Works and our programs and support services. Their work as a special education teacher for 14 years and as a vocational counselor, benefits specialist and disability advocate for 7 years enabled them to save money to found and invest in Grimalkin and helped us keep it running for the first couple of years.

They are also a 2023 recipient of a Songwriting Fellowship from the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

All proceeds for Nancy Grim’s releases on Grimalkin and their personal Bandcamp help fund their ability to sustain their work for the label.
