Chant by So Nice Yesterday
May 12, 2023: So Nice Yesterday releases their album Chant via Grimalkin Records. Baltimore raised, childhood friends, and musical soul mates, Thom Castles (they/them) and Berko Lover (she/her) have returned with Chant, a deep dive into their varied musical tastes and an upfront look at their dance with temptation. The group has been making bedroom pop for nearly ten years together and this endeavor is a woozy look into what it’s like after the Best Party Ever.
Chant breaks a years-long hiatus for So Nice Yesterday and a different sound than what they are normally associated with- being slower in tempo and incorporating more analog instruments while not losing their groovability and experimentation. From the heavily ska and raga rock influence of Visions to the Jazz, Hip-Hop and Fiona Apple inspired Ain’t That Type of Party; So Nice Yesterday has a wide range of sounds that always sounds completely their own and focused. Chant is a showcase of So Nice Yesterday’s growth during their time away from music.
Grimalkin will be hosting a Chant Remix Challenge in June after the album's release in May and we'll be releasing several of those tracks digitally on Bandcamp later on in 2023. Stay tuned for more information!
Proceeds from tapes go towards Grimalkin's current fundraisers.
Artist receives 75% of digital sales on Bandcamp and lathe proceeds go back to our label fund. We break even if they all sell.
